It’s always nice finding a group of people with the same interests as you, especially in business! Creating Facebook Lookalike Audiences allows you to create an audience that ‘looks like’ an existing audience of yours. Facebook does this by matching your audience’s online activity and profile criteria such as locations, demographics and interests to establish a brand new large audience for you. Cool, hey?

How to create a Lookalike Audience

To create a Lookalike Audience, you need to have an existing source audience uploaded or created within Facebook.

If you upload a database of 500 customers as a Custom Audience, Facebook will match around 70% of the user data. Rather than just targeting that audience, you can create a Lookalike audience of people just like them. You’re also able to choose how large this lookalike audience will be. The larger the audience, the less similar they will be. The more data you share in the creation process, the more relevant the Lookalike Audience will be.

Keep testing for better results

Don’t be afraid to split test multiple Lookalike audiences that are created from multiple sources, such as people that have visited your website, subscribed to your database, viewed your videos, engaged via Instagram, or those who have engaged with your Facebook page recently. There are a variety of different ways to play with this feature to create the best results for you.
